This sign for the Lacy Hotel is in Kennesaw (formerly known as Big Shanty).
It refers to the location where the locomotive ‘General’ was stolen by Union men in what would become known as the Andrews Raid. This famous event has been the subject of many books, movies and T.V. shows, and it resulted in the first Medals of Honor ever awarded.  (Photo credit:  Bill Sweeney)
